The New Twitter Dashboard: Making It Work For You

Socinova | 2 SEP 2016

In case you missed it, the Twitter Dashboard was recently introduced. But we don't mean your news feed! Read on to find out how it works and how you can use it as a business and make the most of its new features!

Getting Started

To access the Twitter Dashboard, simply go to dashboard.twitter.com. If it's your first time visiting, you'll see the 'Try Twitter Dashboard' button. Go ahead and click it!

After clicking the link and logging in you'll be asked to choose the category that best describes your business. Choices include local, online, app or game, brand or product, enterprise and other.

You'll also be asked how may employees your business has. Simple!

Next, you'll need to decide which search terms or phrases you want to monitor using the Twitter dashboard. Default includes your own Twitter handle and the name of your business;, however, you can also track custom hashtags, related topics or any other phrase people might use in relation to you or your business.

You can also choose to select some 'negative' keywords that you specifically don't want to be included. This is helpful if there are terms that may often be mistaken for your business – such as a company with a similar name whose updates you have no interest in.

After this simple setup process, you're ready to get started! Here's what you can do:

1. See all your mentions clearly laid out.

When you're garnering a lot of engagement, sometimes it's easy to completely miss a tweet. But with the new Dashboard, you can see a list of all tweets that have mentioned your handle, starting with the newest, ensuring you never have to miss one again!

2. Keep track of keywords.

From your Dashboard, you'll be able to see all tweets that have mentioned your chosen keywords, allowing you to see everything that users are saying about your business, as well as keeping up with relevant industry discussions.

Using this feature is a great way to get involved with the community and keep the conversation going.

3. Schedule your tweets – without the need for additional apps or software.

You can now schedule tweets for specific dates and times without the need for any other tools. However, apps like Hootsuite and Buffer still offer more features, so it may be wise to keep them regardless.

4. Gain an insight into your overall performance.

You can see how well your tweets have done over certain time periods, ranging from 7 to 30 to 60 days. The Analytics tab will show you the number of tweets you've posted, as well as how successful your account has been.

5. Access in-depth analytics for each and every one of your tweets.

Twitter Dashboard allows you an upgraded view of the standard Twitter Analytics, enabling you to see exactly how each tweet is performing.

Once you can see which tweets are gathering the most engagement, you'll begin to understand the kind of content that resonates with your audience.

Doesn't that sound helpful?! Twitter has really gone all out when putting this tool together, ensuring that business users and social media marketers have access to absolutely everything they need to create a successful Twitter profile and campaign.
