When marketing your brand on Instagram, it’s worth taking a look at the most popular accounts to get an idea of what propelled them to success.
While the top ten accounts may be owned by Hollywood celebrities who have already amassed millions of fans around the world, there must be something that encourages users to follow them on Instagram compared to, say, Twitter or Facebook.
So, who are the ten most popular users on Instagram? Let’s find out.

Reality star Khloé Kardashian is the tenth most popular user on Instagram. Khloé posts several images daily, giving her fans an insight into her personal life and events. However, she’s also been known to post paid ads, promoting various products from major brands.
Nicki Minaj, known for her music career, is a regular user. However, it’s evident that the majority of her photos were taken by friends or media and re-uploaded rather than being taken directly from her own phone.
The youngest member of the Kardashian-Jenner clan, Kylie, has made quite a name for herself on social media due to her very active approach. The 18-year-old uses Instagram almost like a photo journal of her life and is famous for her made-up selfies.
Although Kylie’s older sister is a little more reserved, 20-year-old Kendall has amassed even more followers! Kendall’s Instagram focuses more on her professional career as one of the world’s most successful supermodels and posts photos of her professional shoots and magazine covers as they’re released.
Justin Bieber enjoys sharing snaps of his friends, studio sessions and inspiration, giving his fans an idea of what he takes an interest in outside of work. He also uses Instagram to promote his upcoming music releases.
While Ariana posts photos and videos of her professional performances, she also uses the site to share selfies and fun videos with her friends, showing how she can be relatable to her demographic of young pop fans.
Much of the content Selena Gomez posts is re-uploaded from professional photo shoots and events, giving users a peek at where her career is taking her. Occasionally, she’ll upload a selfie or snapshot of a personal event or time spent with friends.
Beyoncé is known for her love of privacy, as well as her choice to debut her daughter’s first photos through her Tumblr account rather than selling to a magazine. By using Instagram, she is in full control of how much she shares with the public and recently posted photos of her family vacation and tour performances.
Probably the most famous of the Kardashian family, Kim uses Instagram to share her professional and personal life pictures.
From August - September 2015, Kim was the most followed user on Instagram, but her role was quickly overtaken! She enjoys posting everything from family portraits to professional shoots. Recently, Kim released a book entitled ‘Selfie’ which featured many of her original Instagram snaps.
Just a matter of weeks ago, Taylor Swift became the most popular user on Instagram and her account is growing even more by the day! Taylor’s account is strongly focused on her career, featuring clips of her performances, time spent in the studio and artists who influence her work.
