5 Tips To Help You Manage Your Tumblr Business Blog Like A Pro

If you’re already marketing your business on Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Instagram and Pinterest, you may be wondering exactly why you’d need to use yet another social network.

Nevertheless, Tumblr is a vastly different market that could promote your business to a wealth of users through fun, creative techniques.

But what’s so great about Tumblr?

As it turns out – plenty. The site attracts over 300 million unique visitors each month and is free to use - with the exception of optional paid advertising.

It can help you build an online presence that appeals to a younger demographic, who may also be more likely to share (or ‘reblog’), your content around the web, giving it an improved chance of going viral.

However, if you want to make the most of Tumblr’s business marketing potential, you’ll need to ensure you go about it the right way. The site is often overlooked by social media marketers, but this is often due the fact they are unsure of how to connect with Tumblr users the right way.

Here’s what you need to do to ensure your business’ Tumblr blog is a success.

  • Bring something to the table

Much of Tumblr is dedicated to users’ creative outlets, such as art and writing. To utilize this, consider whether there are any ways to incorporate creativity into your campaign.

Try allowing users to get involved with your business in their own enjoyable way. You may wish to run a contest that requires users to create a new product idea, or post a hilarious story involving your mascot. The possibilities are endless! Nothing is too ‘out there’ for Tumblr, so it’s up to you how you include a little creativity.

  • Don’t be afraid to have a little fun

Humour is always a hit with Tumblr users. GIFs and funny images are constantly liked and reblogged on to personal and business blogs alike, allowing blog runners to show their fun side.

Creating a visual source of entertainment could result in thousands of users becoming aware of your business blog. If it’s highly shareable and unique, there’s a very good chance it could go viral around the site.

  • Unleash your inner creativity

Standard, boring content just isn’t going to cut it within the Tumblr community. While you may choose to pay for your content to be featured and shown to a wider range of Tumblr users, you won’t get many likes or reblogs unless the content is innovative and interesting.

  • “Wow, such meme!”

If you haven’t at least heard of memes, where have you been?! These simple yet humorous posts have taken the internet by storm, with long term favourites including Doge (Wow) and Y U NO Guy.

Brands such as the US restaurant Denny’s are creating memes based on their products or services, simply to post them on sites like Tumblr. Why? Because they know this is what Tumblr users will respond to, gaining the brand more attention in the process.

  • Familiarize yourself with Tumblr’s audience

Take a look at Tumblr. Pay attention to the types of posts that are commonly reblogged and the content that is most appealing to Tumblr users. Take inspiration from these posts and use it to create customized content that will not only fit the Tumblr ideal, but also popularize your brand around the site.

Of course, not all these approaches will be relevant to your audience, so you’ll need to consider whether the Tumblr aesthetic is going to appeal to your demographic.

Alternatively, use these new, unique methods to try and tap into a whole new consumer base.

If you’re already considering it, there’s really no reason not to give Tumblr a try!
